Is Howard going mainstream?!?

Stern in talks to join ‘Talent’

LOS ANGELES – “America’s Got Talent” could be getting just a tad bit edgier.

Radio shock jock Howard Stern is in negotiations with NBC to replace outgoing judge Piers Morgan on the performance show, an individual with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed to TheWrap.

Stern, who’s already making a hefty sum for his Sirius XM Radio show, will pick up another big chunk of change if he decides to join Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne on the panel — the talks are currently hovering around a $15 million annual sum.

Morgan announced Wednesday that he’s leaving the popular reality show, tweeting that he’ll be focusing on his CNN show, “Piers Morgan Tonight,” which he began hosting in January.

“I’m leaving ‘America’s Got Talent’ after 6 wonderful years,” Morgan wrote. “Turned out that juggling’s harder than it looks, so I’m going to focus on CNN.”

Morgan officially announced his “AGT” departure on his CNN show Wednesday night, jokingly suggesting interest in the recently vacated Oscar-hosting gig, as “my schedule just cleared up a bit.”

Eastwood to star in baseball film

Clint Eastwood is reportedly set to return to acting in a new baseball movie, despite insisting 2008’s Gran Torino was his last time in front of the camera.

The movie legend insisted he had finished with acting so he could concentrate on directing, and would only come out of retirement if the perfect script came along.

But after his remake of A Star Is Born was postponed due to its lead Beyonce falling pregnant, Eastwood has decided to fill his time with a new role.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Eastwood is planning to play a baseball scout who goes on a trip with his adult daughter in Trouble with the Curve.

His longtime producing partner Robert Lorenz is set to make his directorial debut on the movie.

Madonna to perform at Super Bowl halftime show?

Rumblings are underway about who’ll be land the half-time entertainment spot at Super Bowl XLVI.

And, according to reports from SB Nation, it’ll be Madonna. The game is Feb. 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

A spokesman for the NFL declined to comment. Madonna has not confirmed the news, either, but she does have an album slated to come out early next year, with the first single to drop in February. And she is auditioning dancers now for a world tour, so the timing would be perfect.

This seems like a bad idea…just get Billy Crystal to do it!!

Eddie Murphy the front-runner to host 2012 Oscars
According to a report by Deadline, Eddie Murphy has emerged as the front-runner to present the 84th Academy Awards ceremony.
Brett Ratner is producing the show this year, and apparently Murphy’s is the name he’ll be putting forward to Academy president Tom Sherak.
It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to learn that Ratner is favouring Murphy, as the pair have recently worked together on upcoming comedy Tower Heist, a kind of everyman’s Ocean’s Eleven.
With his background in stand-up comedy, Murphy could certainly bring a bit of much needed energy to the proceedings, not too mention a welcome smattering of ‘edge.’
Some rumour sites are reporting Murphy’s role as a done deal, although there has been no official confirmation yet. According to Deadline, Oscars favourite Billy Crystal will be involved in some capacity.
Eddie Murphy received a Best Supporting Actor nomination from the Academy for Dreamgirls in 2007.
Tower Heist opens on 4 November 2011.

Good idea?!?! I don’t know!!

Exclusive: Mike Myers is signed, sealed, delivered for ‘Austin Powers 4’
Mike Myers will return to his best-loved movie role with ‘Austin Powers 4,’ HitFix has exclusively confirmed.
I guess it was inevitable.
Mike Myers had a small part in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds,” and he’s reprised his role as Shrek for both a sequel and a TV special in the last few years, but as far as live-action movies where he’s the star, the last one was the disastrous “The Love Guru” in 2008, and the response to that nearly drove him out of the business.
Myers is a very particular talent, a guy who likes to workshop a character for a while before he actually makes a movie.  He has not made that many films, all things considered, and a few times over the course of his career, he has actually pulled the plug on things that probably could have gotten made because he didn’t feel they were ready.  That happened most famously with “Sprockets,” the feature-film version of one of his SNL characters.  I liked the script he co-wrote with Mike McCullers, but Myers bowed out just before it was supposed to start, killing the film in the process.
His most successful bigscreen character, of course, is the hyper-horny snaggletoothed secret agent Austin Powers, and there has been much talk about the possibility of a fourth film in that series over the last few years.  For a while, there was talk of a Dr. Evil spin-off film, but I think all of those weird characters need to share the same universe.  Taking one of them into a solo film just seems odd.  Whatever the case, we haven’t’ seen the character since 2002’s “Goldmember.”
That’s about to change, as HitFix can now confirm that Mike Myers just closed his deal to return to the role.  Yep.  “Austin Powers 4” is coming, officially.
No word yet on who will be directing.  I would hope Jay Roach returns as well, since I think a lot of the kick of the films is the ’60s pop aesthetic, and Roach has been a big part of that since day one.  There’s also no word yet on a proposed storyline, but I will certainly start digging to see what I can come up with.
Right now, all that’s sure is that someone’s going to get shagged, and for the first time in a decade, Austin Powers fans are going to have new material to get excited about.  We’ll update you as more details become available.

Hey guys…it is Well Enough calling. Would you please just leave me alone?!?

Bruce Campbell says ‘Evil Dead 4’ is in the works
A fourth “Evil Dead” movie is in the offing, and if Bruce Campbell isn’t starring once again, he’s at least in the loop on the production.
Campbell, who joined Twitter over the weekend (he’s @GroovyBruce), confirmed a report from horror site Dread Central that “Evil Dead 4,” which was announced way back in 2004, is finally getting off the ground. The movie will be more of a remake/restart than a sequel to the previous “Evil Dead” movies and “Army of Darkness.”
“Believe in the remake, dawg!” Campbell tweeted in response to a follower’s question. “The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell.”
Dread Central says Bob Murawski, who edited “Army of Darkness” and the three “Spider-Man” movies for director Sam Raimi, has set up shop in Michigan to begin work on “Evil Dead 4.” Bloody Disgusting further reports that Federico Alvarez will direct.
What we don’t know yet is if, or how, Campbell will be involved. Even if the new movie is basically a remake, we’d think Ash would have to be part of it somehow.

Arnold Schwarzenegger signs on to first post-split film
Arnold Schwarzenegger is ready to start shooting a new movie in September.
Deadline.com reports that a Lionsgate Western titled Last Stand will be the first film that tests Schwarzenegger’s popularity post-scandal.
Arnold was originally attached to the film, but pulled out when his marriage troubles made headlines. In May, Arnold and wife Maria Shriver announced they were separating after the former California governor admitted to fathering a child with the family’s longtime housekeeper, Mildred Baena.
Then Liam Neeson was attached to Last Stand, but got busy with other projects. Now that things have quieted down, Arnold has signed back on, says Deadline. One of Arnold’s other film projects, Cry Macho, looks to be delayed until February 2012.

Beyonce to star in Eastwood film
Pop star Beyonce has confirmed she’ll lead the cast in Clint Eastwood’s A Star Is Born remake.
The Halo hitmaker, who previously starred in Dreamgirls and Austin Powers: Gold Member, has been linked to the leading lady role for months and now she has ended the speculation by revealing she’ll follow in the footsteps of Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand for a fourth remake of the classic movie.
Making the announcement during her summer concert series performance on Good Morning America on Friday, she says, “Clint Eastwood? Can you believe that? I can’t believe it still. When I met with him I was just in awe. I’m so, so honoured that he believes in me. And I can’t wait to do this film.
“I represent this generation’s talent and for me to be the chosen person, as an African American woman, is incredible.”
Russell Crowe is in talks to co-star.

James Spader may join regular cast of ‘The Office’
James Spader is close to signing a deal to join NBC’s “The Office,” reports EW.com.

Spader recently guested on the season finale as one of the contenders hoping to replace Michael Scott (Steve Carell) as Dunder Mifflin Scranton boss. Now the actor may settle in higher up on the corporate ladder, replacing actress Kathy Bates as CEO of Dunder Mifflin.
Spader won three Emmys for his work on “Boston Legal.” Bates will now focus on David E. Kelley legal drama “Harry’s Law,” also on NBC.

It’s still unknown who will fill Carell’s shoes as boss of the Scranton office, although heavy-hitters Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey, Ray Romano and Ricky Gervais were among the other actors who appeared on the show as potential replacements last season. The Hollywood Reporter says that British comedian Catherine Tate, who also appeared on the finale, is being considered by the show’s producers.

Other possibilities being thrown around are current cast members Ed Helms, Craig Robinson and Rainn Wilson, and season finale guest star Will Arnett.
Stay tuned.
