Alanis Morissette to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame
Alanis Morissette is joining the ranks of Canadian music stars like Anne Murray, Blue Rodeo and Bryan Adams. The Ottawa-born singer-songwriter is being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame
The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) made the announcement Tuesday, revealing that the 40-year-old hitmaker would be celebrated during the Junos Awards next month.
“It is an honour to be honoured by my home country that I adore so much,” said Morissette in a statement.
The pop-rock songstress shot to international stardom with the release of her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill.
The Ironic singer has since earned 13 Junos, seven Grammys and two Golden Globe nominations in her nearly three-decade career.
“Her induction to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame is more than deserving,” said Allan Reid, president and CEO of CARAS and the Juno Awards. “We are incredibly proud to be honouring her long history of accomplishments and celebrating her one of a kind voice at the 2015 Juno Awards.”
The 44th annual awards recognizing achievement in Canadian music will be handed out at a star-studded gala on March 15 at Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre.
