Some great artists are playing this year, but none that I need to go to Tennessee to see.

Bonnaroo 2015: Billy Joel, Mumford and Sons, Deadmau5 Lead Lineup

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and multiplatinum icon Billy Joel will be headlining the 2015 edition of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

The initial lineup for the 13th annual mega-fest — announced earlier this evening via an interactive social-media blitz — also includes Mumford and Sons, Deadmau5, Kendrick Lamar, Florence and the Machine, My Morning Jacket and Robert Plant with his latest band, the Sensational Space Shifters.

Notable inclusions include arena-R&B legends Earth, Wind and Fire; new-wave epic-crafters Tears for Fears, who are currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of their landmark Songs From the Big Chair; rising hip-hop star Dej Loaf in her first-announced summer festival appearance and extreme metal’s most famous band, Slayer. Other artists set to perform this year include Bassnectar, Alabama Shakes, Hozier, Spoon, Belle and Sebastian and Run the Jewels, among many others.

The bill also promises the return of the annual star-studded SuperJam as well as the Bluegrass SuperJam hosted by The Hangover actor and banjo enthusiast Ed Helms.

The full list of performers that Bonnaroo has listed so far is available on the fest’s website. Bonnaroo producers are promising more than 125 musical artists total and more than 20 comedians, so they will be announcing more in the coming months. The four-day extravaganza will play out on 12 stages.

The fest, held in Manchester, Tennessee on June 11 through the 14th, is expecting more than 80,000 attendees, which would take about five months of Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden residency to comfortably let everyone hear “Piano Man.”
