CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THIS!!!!!!

Banksy documentary to air on HBO starting in November

A new documentary about Banksy and the street artist’s 2013 residency in New York is scheduled to air on HBO starting Nov. 17, the premium cable channel recently announced.

“Banksy Does New York,” from filmmaker Chris Moukarbel, uses crowd-sourced footage to recount the 30 days during which the British street artist created public works of art around the city’s five boroughs.

Banksy generated significant media coverage with the month-long residency, with scores of curious onlookers using social media to catalog the various creations. At one point, the artist, whose identity remains under wraps, is believed to have set up a stall in Central Park selling original Banksy canvases for the price of $60.

The artist announced the new creations through Instagram and a dedicated website. HBO Documentary Films has been involved with a number of art-themed documentaries, including “Marina Abramovic: The Artist Is Present” and the recent “Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr.”

Despite Banksy’s outlaw persona, the artist’s works are highly coveted by top collectors around the world. The artist was nominated for an Academy Award for the 2010 documentary feature “Exit Through the Gift Shop.”
