New Destiny’s Child album coming
Trio Destiny’s Child have reunited in the studio to release their first new music in eight years.
Frontwoman Beyonce announced the news to fans via a post on her website on Thursday revealing that she and her bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams had put together new compilation album Destiny’s Child Love Songs, featuring the trio’s most romantic tracks.
The disc, due for release at the end of the month, also includes at least one new tune from the Bootylicious hitmakers, titled Nuclear, produced by Pharrell Williams.
Under the headline ’Destiny’s Child Love Songs’, Beyonce writes, “I am so proud to announce the first original Destiny’s Child music in eight years!”
The surprise news comes as Beyonce prepares to hit the stage for the Super Bowl Halftime show during the American football championship on Feb. 3, and rumours now suggest she will be joined by Rowland and Williams for the big gig.
Destiny’s Child released its last new tracks in 2005 as part of greatest hits album 1’s before the bandmates disbanded to pursue solo careers.
Thursday appeared to be a day of pop comebacks as Justin Timberlake also declared he was “ready” to return to the charts with his first new material since 2006.
