Seth MacFarlane has ‘sick ideas’ for ‘Ted 2’, says Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg has revealed that Seth MacFarlane’s ideas for Ted 2 are “sick”.

Ted, which stars Wahlberg opposite a foul-mouthed, hard-drinking teddy bear, has been one of 2012’s surprise success stories. Written and directed by Family Guy creator MacFarlane, the R-rated comedy film has now grossed over $500 million (£310 million) worldwide.

Speaking back in September (2012), Universal Pictures CEO Steve Burke admitted: “We’d like to see a Ted 2 as soon as we can.” Now Wahlberg has given an update on the sequel, revealing that he will start Ted 2 as soon as he finishes Transformers 4.

He told Collider.com: “We’re shooting Transformers in May (2013), and then I believe we’re gonna do Ted 2 right after. They’re working on it now and we’ve kind of gone through the negotiation process.”

Praising MacFarlane’s screenwriting skills, Wahlberg continued: “The great thing about it is Seth’s ideas for the second one are sick. He comes from the world of episodic television so he knows how to tell the stories, man, in a way that most people don’t. Like for instance The Italian Job, we’ve been trying to do the sequel for 10 years. He’s a different kind of guy.”

Following the success of Ted, MacFarlane has been hired to host next year’s Oscars. Meanwhile, he recently confirmed plans to make a Family Guy film, saying that it was “just a matter of when”. He also has guest role on The Simpsons coming up and is reportedly planning a comedy Western film.
