Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s ‘Americana’ Coming in June

Neil Young is turning to America’s musical roots for his next album.

“Americana,” recorded with his reconvened longtime collaborators, Crazy Horse, is set for a June 5 release. According to Rolling Stone, the set will include folk standards including “Oh Susannah,” “Clementine” and Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land.”

“They’re songs we all know from kindergarten, but Crazy Horse has rearranged them, and they now belong to us,” Young reportedly said at the Slamdance Film Festival, where he announced the new project as well as showcasing his latest concert film with director Jonathan Demme, “Neil Young Journeys.”

In January, Young and Crazy Horse revealed the first sounds of their reunion, posting a video of studio items soundtracked by a 37-minute jam session. The musicians’ work together stretches back to 1968, with 2003 effort “Greendale” (missing guitarist Frank Sampedro) their most recent studio project. The group performed at the pre-Grammys MusicCares tribute to Paul McCartney in February, though further concert dates have yet to be announced.
