‘Lost’ finale grows by a half-hour
The “Lost” goodbye will take a little longer than previously thought.
ABC is expanding the show’s series finale on May 23 by a half-hour. The episode will now run from 9 to 11:30 p.m. ET, pushing affiliates’ local news back by a half-hour (given the likely bigger-than-usual lead-in, they probably won’t mind too much). The “Jimmy Kimmel Live” special celebrating the finale in turn is pushed back to 12:05 a.m.
“Lost” executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse wrapped up post-production work on the finale on Monday (May 3) and issued identical tweets when they did: “We’re done. Amen.” The final episode came in long, and rather than cut it or the recap special that precedes it, ABC decided to extend the show.
For those of you keeping score, that means you will now have 5 1/2 hours of “Lost”-related programming on May 23. A two-hour retrospective on the show begins at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the finale and Kimmel’s one-hour special. ABC is also re-airing the show’s pilot (it’s an “enhanced” version, with pop-up factoids) on Saturday, May 22.
That’s a whole lot of “Lost” in 48 hours — will it be enough for you to say goodbye?
