The English Beat maps North American excursion
Following a recent cross-country tour alongside Fishbone, ska revivalists The English Beat have returned to the North American tour trail for a slate of spring shows.
The Birmingham, England-based band kicked off the new leg last weekend in Santa Ana, CA, and will continue Friday (4/23) in Mill Valley, CA. The group will venture to 25 cities throughout the nation and parts of Canada before wrapping with a July 24 concert in Temecula, CA. The full schedule is shown below.
Fronted by Dave Wakeling, the seven-piece outfit has released three studio albums, but it’s been nearly 20 years since the band’s lastest new material, “Special Beat Service,” hit shelves in 1982. Since that time, the reunited act has dropped five compilation sets, including 2008’s “You Just Can’t Beat It: The Best of the Beat.”
The group has three new songs–“The Love You Give Lasts Forever,” “How Can You Stand There” and “Said We Would Never Die”–according to a press release, and has plans to unveil them in the near future.
“I have plans to record this year,” Wakeling said in a press release. “Some great new demos done, and now I’m just figuring out how to put the recording and touring schedule together. Expect releases to begin by summer!”
