Billy Idol adds US dates to world tour
British rocker Billy Idol will visit the US and parts of Canada for the first time since 2008 following an early summer round of European festival gigs.
The six-week North American road trip, which kicks off with an Aug. 5 show in Tulalip, WA, mixes major-market theater and arena performances that are scattered throughout the country and into Canada. The 26-city trek makes its way to the East Coast for a Sept. 17 conclusion in Atlantic City, NJ. The full schedule is shown below.
Idol will be accompanied by longtime guitarist Steve Stevens, bassist Stephen McGrath and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, as well as new additions Billy Morrison on guitar and Jeremy Colson on drums.
Idol, who will debut the new lineup June 5 in Moscow, will perform classics that span his nearly 40-year discography, according to a press release, including chart-topping hits “Mony Mony,” “White Wedding” and “Hot In The City,” among others.
In 2008, Idol released “The Very Best of Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself,” featuring 16 classics and two new tracks, “John Wayne” and “New Future Weapon.” The deluxe edition includes a DVD comprised of 13 music videos.
The rocker’s music has reached the new generation with the inclusion of “Rebel Yell” on 2008’s “Guitar Hero World Tour” game. In 2009, Idol released his first live DVD, “In Super Overdrive Live,” which was filmed at the Congress Theatre in Chicago.
