Green Day, Soundgarden, Arcade Fire Top Lollapalooza 2010 Lineup
Green Day, a reunited Soundgarden, Arcade Fire, the Strokes, Lady Gaga and Phoenix will headline this year’s Lollapalooza, festival organizers confirmed today (April 6th).
The National, Spoon, Devo, Cypress Hill, Cut Copy, the New Pornographers, Erykah Badu, Slightly Stoopid, Grizzly Bear, Gogol Bordello, Chromeo, Wolfmother, Yeasayer and X Japan are also among the more than 130 bands, musicians, and DJs set to perform at the weekend-long event, scheduled for Aug. 6-8 in Chicago’s Grant Park.
Tickets for the three day festival are $215, inclusive of the service charge, and are on sale now. Additional information about tickets, travel packages and VIP options is available at lollapalooza.com.
Lady Gaga’s appearance at Lollapalloza is part of her previously announced Monster’s Ball tour, which stops at arenas across North America throughout the summer.
As previously reported, Soundgarden announced that it will reunite for concerts in 2010 via a New Year’s Eve Twitter message from frontman Chris Cornell which directed fans to a new Web site, Soundgardenworld.com. Lollapalooza is the first confirmed appearance by the Seattle rock quartet — Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron — since splitting up in the spring of 1997.
Both Arcade Fire and The Strokes are due to release new albums this year, and Lollapalooza is the first confirmed North American shows in 2010 for both bands.
Expanding on 2009’s club-styled “Perry’s” stage, the 2010 DJ lineup includes 2ManyDJs, Digitalism, Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, Tiga and Felix da Housecat, among others.
Last year’s Lollapalooza was the third highest grossing music festival of 2009, according to Billboard Boxscore. The festival grossed $14,082,461 and and was attended by 225,000 people over three sold-out days.
