Eagles and Dixie Chicks hit the road
The Dixie Chicks and the Eagles are combining for a tour that begins in June and will make stops in two Canadian cities.
The 17-day tour starts in Toronto on June 8. The three members of the award-winning Dixie Chicks ó lead singer Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison ó will take the stage at the Rogers Centre. It will be their first time performing on tour in four years.
Also on stage that night will be rockers Glen Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit of the legendary Eagles.
The only other Canadian show will be at Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg, Man., on June 22.
Keith Urban will be part of the tour in some U.S. cities, but will not appear in Toronto or Winnipeg.
One of the most successful performing groups of the 1970s, The Eagles broke up in 1980, but have been touring intermittently since their 1994 comeback album, Hell Freezes Over.
The Dixie Chicks, known for their controversial comments on war and politics, achieved massive country and pop success beginning in 1998 with songs like Wide Open Spaces. They haven’t released any new music since their Grammy-winning 2006 album, Taking the Long Way.
