Here is the main proof the the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (who give out the Golden Globes) and the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are two different groups with two different agendas. Yes, the HFPA do have two categories and more nominations, but only two Golden Globe nominees were Oscar nominees: BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN and GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK.

Many people have said that this would be a tough year to find 5 worthy Oscar nominees, and that seems to be true with past winners – and Oscar favourites – Judi Dench and Charlize Theron nominated again. In this category there were more to choose from and the AMPAS members nailed the right five. Yes, the fact that Russell Crowe wasn’t nominated is interesting as he is a favourite as well, but the film did underperform, and he did get arrested when it came out for throwing a phone at a hotel clerk, so that explains that. Otherwise, this is the perfect category and the race is on!!
