New Shania Twain single hits radio
TORONTO (CP) — The first new tune in years from Shania Twain is hitting the air waves.
On Friday morning, radio stations across Canada will receive the single I’m Gonna Getcha Good, from Twain’s upcoming album. The album itself — entitled Up — won’t be released by Universal Music Canada until Nov. 19.
Twain said the single is about a woman’s self confidence.
“It’s all about a girl who knows what she wants, she not only knows how to get it, but she’s going to get it good,” she said in a statement Thursday.
The last album from Twain, who was raised in Timmins, Ont., and now lives in Switzerland, was 1997’s Come On Over, which sold 35 million copies around the world — including two million in Canada.
She has taken a break recently after giving birth to her son with husband-producer Robert (Mutt) Lange. She says that she and Lange “laboured” over the new album.
“I don’t have any anxiety about the success of this record,” she said. “My goal isn’t to outsell Come On Over. I just really want to know what people think of it. I’m excited to get the feedback.”
