LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Oscar-nominated British actress Minnie Driver is going to have a U.S. TV series built around her next year — but nobody knows if it will be a comedy or drama.
NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker said Thursday that Driver, 32, will appear in a series for the 2003-2004 season, but it was not decided whether it will be a comedy or a drama.
Driver was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for 1997’s “Good Will Hunting” and also appeared in films including “Grosse Point Blank” and “Circle of Friends.” She has also done voice work in a number of animated films, among them “Tarzan,” “South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut” and “Princess Mononoke.”
A network spokesman said the deal was just for a show for Driver and did not extend into production or development of other series beyond her own. He also said the two sides do not have a firm concept for a series as yet.
