Owen Wilson Plays Hutch to Stiller’s Starsky
NEW YORK (Variety) – Owen Wilson will join Ben Stiller in “Starsky & Hutch,” an action comedy set for a February start.
The Warner Bros. film takes its inspiration from the ABC series with Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky) and David Soul (Hutch), which bowed in 1975. Stiller is playing Starsky and Wilson will play Hutch.
Glaser and Soul played hip, streetwise cops with a well-drawn relationship often credited for the show’s four-year run. The feature will be contemporized and will be updated and will focus on the formation of the duo’s partnership.
Todd Phillips (“Road Trip”), who wrote the last draft of the script with Scott Armstrong, will direct.
Stiller and Wilson have worked together several times, including on pictures “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Zoolander” and “Meet the Parents.”
