It became a surprise hit in America when it was released in 2000 and topped the US box office.
Gina Wendkos, who wrote the original, is to work on the sequel, reports Variety.
The first film was the tale of Violet ‘Jersey’ Sanford, an innocent singer who loses her inhibitions while working at an all-girl bar.
