“Strange Brew” was better!

Canadian curling flick breaks records

In just 24 days, his curling comedy Men With Brooms has become the top-grossing English-Canadian film in more than two decades.

With a $3.5-million gross in its first 24 days of release, Men With Brooms has already surpassed the total gross for such recent Canadian success stories as The Red Violin ($3.3 million), Johnny Mnemonic ($2.8 million) and Black Robe ($2.5 million).

“It’s thrilling and humbling for the film to be so warmly embraced,” says Gross, adding “it is a movie made by us and for us and its acceptance is a testament to the collaborative spirit in which it was made.”

The theatrical success of Men With Brooms bodes well for its chances on video, DVD and TV.
