A.I. Release Is Now Scheduled For March

DREAMWORKS has set a March 5th, 2002, release for Steven Speilberg’s A.I.. The boring and uninteresting sci-fi film, which Speilberg took over after Stanley Kubrick passed away, stars Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law. The double-disc DVD release of the film offers interviews with all three, along with ILM effects artists Dennis Muren and Scott Farrer. The DVD set will feature several additional documentaries on the effects and “making of” the film.

TWIN PEAKS: THE FIRST SEASON (DVD)- The first season of David Lynch’s awesome TV series is released as a four-disc set by ARTISAN. The spectacular collection features the newly-remastered high-definition transfers of the first seven episodes of the cult favorite, in-depth interviews with the cast and crew, select episode analysis by the directors, optional Log Lady intros to each episode, and rare archival material from the WRAPPED IN PLASTIC fan ‘zine. BUT BE WARNED, THIS SET DOES NOT HAVE THE PILOT EPISODE/MOVIE. It is owned by a different studio.

MOULIN ROUGE (VHSr & DVD)- This 2-disc special edition DVD features two audio commentary tracks as well as a ton of documentaries and featurettes on the elaborate Baz Luhrmann production. See it. Live it. OWN IT!!

CENTER OF THE WORLD (VHSr & DVD)- – The DVD release of Wayne Wang’s CENTER OF THE WORLD offers deleted scenes, alternate endings, and select scene commentary for this film about an erotic relationship between a computer genius and a beautiful stripper.

SERIES 7 (VHSr & DVD)- SERIES 7 stars Brooke Smith (Silence of the Lambs) as the pregnant contestant of a twisted reality series in which the players kill off one another until a lone champion survives. The DVD features deleted scenes, director commentary, and more.

Variety Magazine has reported that ABC is ordering 13 episodes of a new game show in which contestants must control their heart rate while answering trivia questions. Tentatively titled The Chair, it’s expected to debut in prime-time sometime next year.

Nineteen-year-old country chanteuse LeAnn Rimes and dancer Dean Sheremet getting engaged after a whirlwind romance, the New York Daily News reports. Rimes’ rep says no wedding date has been set, but the Daily News claims it’s going down February 23 in Dallas.
