Weezer: ‘We’ll do the deluxe break-up for $20million’
Weezer have responded to the campaign who offered them $10million to split up.
As previously reported, an online petition has been created which is trying to raise $10m to give the band in exchange for them calling it a day.
Now the group’s drummer Patrick Wilson has taken to Twitter to try and strike a deal with the campaign organiser James Burns.
“If they can make it [$]20[million],” he said jokingly. “We’ll do the ‘deluxe breakup'”.
Currently the online petition at ThePoint.com has raised $21 of their $10m target.

Pffft!!! I still love them and am looking forward to seeing them TWICE in November!!

Attention Weezer: Break up and youíll get $10 million
Are you one of those people who hated Raditude so much that youíre willing to pay money for Weezer to disappear? Well, hereís your chance, thanks to Seattle resident and anti-new-Weezer advocate James Burns.
According to The Stranger (via Pitchfork), Burns has launched a campaign to raise $10 million with the hope of using it to entice the Rivers Cuomo-led outfit into retirement. HmmÖ I wonder how much Justin Bieber could get?
Despite portraying himself as anything but, Burns writes that heís been a fan of the band since the early í90s. His proposal is to merely protect fans from ìAnother pile of crap like ëBeverly Hillsí or ëIím Your Daddy.í ìAccording to his math, that means that the 852,000 fans who bought Pinkerton just have to drop $12 each and we can say farewell to Rivers Cuomo and company forever. Incidentally, thatís a lot less than what youíd have to pay to see Weezer on their upcoming ìBlinkertonî tour.
Already, the campaign has raised some $136. That would definitely be enough for us to never mention Make Believe ever again, FYI.

Weezer Lines Up ‘Memories’ Tour Dates
So-Cal nerd-rock outfit Weezer has officially announced the dates for its Memories tour, which will see the band play its first two releases, “The Blue Album” and “Pinkerton,” in full over the course of four two-night stands.
The trek kicks off Nov. 26-27 in Los Angeles and will also hit San Francisco on Nov. 29-30, Boston on Dec. 14-15, and New York, N.Y. dates to be announced soon, according to a rep for the band. Tickets go on sale Oct. 1 for the Los Angeles dates, Oct. 3 for San Francsico and Oct. 9 for Boston.
As previously reported, Weezer will perform its self-titled debut, also known as “The Blue Album,” on the first night of each tour stop, and its sophomore release, the cult favorite “Pinkerton,” on the second night. The band will also play other material from its catalog after performing each album in its entirety.
Before the Memories tour kicks off, Weezer will play a string of September and October gigs to promote its latest album, “Hurley,” which this week debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 with 45,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band toasted its release date with a secret show in Hollywood, Calif., where Rivers Cuomo and co. were joined by My Chemical Romance and Jorge Garcia (aka Hurley on “Lost,” whose face graces the album’s cover).
Here are Weezer’s Memories tour dates:
Nov. 26: Los Angeles, Calif. (Gibson Amphitheater) – “Blue Album”
Nov. 27: Los Angeles, Calif. (Gibson Amphitheater) – “Pinkteron”
Nov. 29: San Francisco, Calif. (Knob Hill Masonic Auditorium) – “Blue Album”

AWESOME!!!!

Weezer to Play Entire ‘Blue Album,’ ‘Pinkerton’ on Tour
Weezer released its new album “Hurley” on Tuesday (Sept. 14), but instead of touring to support the new material, the So-Cal alt-rock quartet will perform its first two albums in their entirety.
According to Spinner.com, Weezer will kick off its “Blinkerton” tour in November and perform for two nights at each stop of the trek. The band will play its 1994 debut “The Blue Album” the first night and its 1996 cult favorite “Pinkerton” the second.
Reached for comment, the band’s label Epitaph said that tour dates were still being finalized and will be announced in the coming weeks.
The news comes after several weeks of speculation about whether there would be enough interest from venue promoters to greenlight the tour. “We have this really exciting idea to do a tour where we spend two nights in each city, and the first night, we play the entire ‘Blue’ album, and the second night, we play the entirety of ‘Pinkerton,” Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo told MTV last month, adding that fan response to the idea was “incredible.”
“We’re just running it by promoters right now to see if there’s sufficient interest in the markets to do something like that, and if they’re on board, it’s gonna happen,” he said.
Much like the deluxe edition of “The Blue Album,” which was released in 2004, “Pinkerton” will get its own two-disc reissue on Nov. 2 (just in time for the “Blinkerton” Tour), according to a listing on Amazon.com.

Weezer Readies New Music, Rarities For Indie Releases
Weezer is hatching a variety of creative plans in the wake of its late 2009 decision to leave Geffen Records and go independent, but the group isn’t getting too specific about any of them yet.
“We’re always planning and scheming something,” bassist Scott Shriner told Billboard.com during a conference call to promote this year’s Bonnaroo Music Festival, where Weezer will play on June 12. “We’re always working on some new music. I can’t really go into any detail about that yet, but we’re all writing and working on new stuff.”
And old stuff as well. Weezer is planning to release a deluxe, expanded edition of its 1996 sophomore album “Pinkerton;” no date has yet been set, though pre-orders are being taken. The group is also assembling an “Odds and Ends” collection of rarities that’s expected out this year as well. “It’s a ton of B-sides from a big period of time,” Shriner says. “Rivers (Cuomo) has been mostly in charge of picking which songs are gonna be on that…I played on a lot of the songs. Some of the songs were around before I was in the band (since 2001). There’s so many cool things that we’ve recorded for records that never made the (albums), I think they had to get out there. Finally it’s going to happen.”
One new piece of Weezer music that will be heard is a song the group recorded for the upcoming “Shrek Forever After” film, which opens May 21. It’s the group’s second musical contribution to the Shrek series, following “Make Believe” for “Shrek 2” in 2005, and Shriner reported that the new song “was really fun to do. We’re all a fan of Shrek. A lot of us have kids. It just sounded like a really fun idea.”
Shriner also said that Cuomo is “100 percent again” after the Dec. 6 tour bus accident in which he suffered three broken ribs. “We played a little show a couple months ago (Jan. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla.) and he was 75 percent, but…I’m sure he’s ready to kick ass now,” Shriner said. “He’s strong and ready to go. He’s a tough little dude, man. That guy bounces back pretty quick.”
Weezer is taking it easy on the road this summer, however, with 13 mostly festival dates, and Shriner said he didn’t expect many more to be added. “There are a few dates getting filled in along the way, but I think our big focus is to hit these festivals,” he said. “I think we’re just kind of looking at efficiency and the way to reach the most people. I don’t know if anybody’s super excited about getting in a bus again right now. This just seems to be the way it’s going.”

Weezer cancels remaining tour dates
Weezer has canceled all of the remaining tour dates on its schedule, including the band’s planned shows next month, as singer Rivers Cuomo continues to recuperate from injuries suffered in a bus crash earlier this month.
The January dates, scrubbed “on doctor’s orders,” according to a press statement from the band’s publicist, consist of shows in San Francisco (1/9); Irvine, CA (1/11); La Jolla, CA (1/13) and Phoenix (1/15). Refunds will be available at point of purchase for all canceled shows, including the previously canceled December dates. At present, none of the canceled shows have been rescheduled.
Cuomo was injured Dec. 6 when the tour bus carrying the singer, his family and his assistant, Sarah Kim, hit a patch of black ice about 40 miles west of Albany, NY, and careened off of Interstate 90, according to the band. Kim fractured two ribs and sustained back injuries, and is expected to need 3-4 weeks to recover, while Cuomo’s wife and baby daughter, who were also on the bus at the time of the crash, were unharmed.
Cuomo was released from a New York hospital last weekend, according to Weezer’s longtime webmaster, Karl Koch. The singer–who suffered three broken ribs in the crash, along with a small cut on his spleen and puncture in one lung–remains grounded from flying by his doctors, and had to climb on another bus for a 48-hour ride home to Los Angeles.
“Raditude,” Weezer’s seventh studio album, surfaced last month. The set boasts a slew of co-production credits, including Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M.) and Butch Walker (Saosin, Katy Perry), as well as Cuomo.
The album’s first single, “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To,” hit radio waves in August, debuting at No. 21 on both the Billboard Rock Songs and Alternative Songs charts, and eventually peaking at No. 2 on the latter.

Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo released from hospital
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has been released from a New York State hospital, where he had been hospitalized since the tour bus he was riding in crashed earlier this month.
According to Weezer’s longtime webmaster, Karl Koch, Cuomo–who suffered three broken ribs in the crash, along with a small cut on his spleen and puncture in one lung–was given the go-ahead to check himself out of the Albany, NY, hospital , where he planned to depart Saturday (12/12) on yet another bus for the long trip back to his home in Los Angeles. Cuomo’s lung injury prevents him from traveling via airplane while he recovers, according to Koch.
“We’re taking a warmer southerly route to avoid bad weather, and Rivers will be using a cozy lower bunk for sleeping,” Koch wrote Friday on the band’s website. “None of that back lounge bedroom stuff for him!”
Cuomo was injured Dec. 6 when the tour bus carrying the singer, his family and his assistant, Sarah Kim, hit a patch of black ice about 40 miles west of Albany, NY, and careened off of Interstate 90, according to the band. Kim fractured two ribs and sustained back injuries, and is expected to need 3-4 weeks to recover.
“We all wish her the speediest of healing. She’s a very tough girl, we know she can do it,” Koch wrote on the site. Cuomo’s wife and baby daughter, who were also on the bus at the time of the crash, were unharmed.
The band’s remaining shows this month were canceled in the wake of the accident, with no makeup dates currently set. Ticket-holders should check the band’s website for additional information regarding refunds.
