Early WHO Recordings To Be Released In Stereo

MCA Records has signed an agreement with producer Shel Talmy, acquiring never-before-remixed three-track tapes of 24 of The WHO’s earliest recordings, which will allow the songs to be mixed to stereo for the first time ever.

A Deluxe Edition of the band’s seminal 1965 album “The Who Sings My Generation” and other packages utilizing the new material are expected to be released beginning in spring 2002. Along with the classics “My Generation,” “I Can’t Explain” and “The Kids Are Alright,” the three-track recordings include the never-before-in-stereo “Anyhow, Anyway, Anywhere,” “Anytime You Want Me,” “Bald Headed Woman,” “Circles,” “Daddy Rolling Stone,” “Heat Wave,” “I Don’t Mind,” “I’m A Man,” “Instant Party Mixture,” “It’s Not True,” “Leaving Here,” “La-La-Lies,” “Legal Matters,” “Lubie,” “Motor-vating,” “Much Too Much,” “Please Please Please,” “Shout And Shimmy,” “The Good’s Gone,” “The Ox” and “You’re Going To Know Me.”

The reels also contain previously unissued alternate takes.

Get Ready For That Tateless Joke Again

I DIDN’T GET TO HER HER GET OFF!!

Former Baywatch beauty Yasmine Bleeth pleaded guilty last Friday to possessing less than 25 grams of cocaine and to driving while impaired. As part of the plea deal, the actress would serve two years probation and undergo regular drug tests.

Another part of her sentence is that she now has to appear in the Baywatch reunion movie that she had said no to.

PS- While funny, that last part was made up.

George Harrison Quotes

These are some quotations from an Associated Press interview with George Harrison earlier this year.

On the success of the Beatles’ greatest hits CD, “1:” “The thing that pleases me the most about it is that young people like it. It’s given kids from 6 to 16 an alternate view of music to what’s been available for the past 20 years.

“I think the popular music has gone truly weird. It’s either cutesy-wutesy or it’s hard, nasty stuff. It’s good that this has life again with the youth.”

“If a car comes past me in a traffic jam with a boom box going, I jump out of my skin. Those big booming basses. I’m just more sensitive to noise these days.”

On his recovery from the December 1999 stabbing attack: “I feel pretty good. You know, it’s a difficult thing to get over. But I feel like I’ve gotten over it physically. My breathing is a little bit less percentage than it used to be. Other than that, I’m pretty cool.”

On the reissue of his first solo effort, “All Things Must Pass:” “It was the biggest thrill in a way that it was my first record. To be able to do all my own songs on one record was a novelty at that point, you know.”

“Only the fact that people have written about the reissue have I realized that it spent seven weeks at No. 1. At the time I did it, I can’t remember even taking any notice of it.’
