A.I. Release Is Now Scheduled For March
DREAMWORKS has set a March 5th, 2002, release for Steven Speilberg's A.I.. The boring and uninteresting sci-fi film, which Speilberg took over after Stanley Kubrick passed away, stars Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law. The double-disc DVD release of the film offers interviews with all three, along with ILM effects artists Dennis Muren and Scott Farrer. The DVD set will feature several additional documentaries on the effects and "making of" the film.

On disc one of the set, go to the 'Special Features' menu. There, highlight the 'Love Comes And Goes' menu entry. Now press the 'Up' arrow key on your remote control and a picture will appear highlighted. Press 'Enter' now and you will be treated to a 5-minute outtake of Kate Hudson trying to get a name right, saying the name 'Leslie' over and over again.
On the same disc, go to the 'Audio' menu and there highlight the 'Commentary by director Cameron Crowe' menu entry. Larry Sanders finds a home on DVD
Fans of HBO Home Video's excellent box sets for their popular television series "The Sopranos" and "Sex in the City" may be interested to know that the network's former king Larry Sanders is coming as well, but not from HBO. Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment puts The Larry Sanders Show: The Complete First Season on DVD this winter.
Gary Shandling is Larry Sanders, the fictional host of a fictional late night talk show with non-fictional guests. Larry's show seems to run smoothly almost every night, but only through the chaos and neurosis that goes on behind the scenes each and every show. If Johnny Carson was the king of real late night, Larry was the undisputed king of fictional late night.
The new three disc set will contain all twelve episodes of the first season. Each episode will be presented in its original fullscreen aspect ratio with Dolby Stereo 2.0 sound. The set will also include the featurette, "Gary Shandling Talks... "No Flipping!".
Coming on February 26th, the set will cost $39.95 and hopefully pave the way for the next five seasons!!

After weeks of speculation comes the official release of Kevin Smith's newest entry, official confirmation has come in on the self-referential comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Coming from Dimension Home Video later this winter.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is a tale of adventure on the open road. The punchy Jay and his hetero life-mate, Silent Bob find new purpose when informed a movie is being made based on their likeness. They set out to get the "fat movie cash" they deserve and along the way, they learn the rules of the road, ride with a group of gorgeous jewel thieves and incur the wrath of a hapless wildlife marshal.
An anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track will grace the DVD as will an audio commentary, extended and deleted footage, featurettes, music videos, television spots, theatrical trailers and an episode of Comedy Central's promotional program Reel Comedy. Harrison's family invites fans to take part in meditation
George Harrison's family thanked fans for their affectionate tributes and invited them to take part Monday in a minute of meditation in tribute to the late Beatle.
"We are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and compassion from people around the world," said a statement from the musician's widow, Olivia, and son Dhani. "The profound beauty of the moment of George's passing -- of his awakening from this dream -- was no surprise to those of us who knew how he longed to be with God. In that pursuit, he was relentless." The statement was released late Saturday by family friend Gavin de Becker. Harrison died of cancer Thursday in Los Angeles. He was 58.
A family funeral has already been held, and no details were released. Harrison's widow and son asked fans to join them for a tribute. "Olivia and Dhani invite you to join them in a minute of meditation in honour of George's journey, wherever you are on Monday at 1:30 p.m. PST, (4:30 pm Eastern)" De Becker said. The intensely private and spiritual Harrison was known as the quiet Beatle.

Two TICK Episodes Airing This Week
FOX will air new episodes of THE TICK this Wednesday night at 9:30, and this Thursday night at 8:30. In the special Wednesday episode, Arthur & The Tick strike up a friendship with the dysfunctional superhero duo Fiery Blaze & Friendly Fire, and on Thursday, The Tick searches for his real identity so that he can apply for a superhero's license at the local DMV (I hope he can avoid Patty and Selma!).
Watch the show! It's stupid and dumb, and those are just two of the most positive things I could say about it!

2001 BILLBOARD Awards Tuesday Night

Early WHO Recordings To Be Released In Stereo
MCA Records has signed an agreement with producer Shel Talmy, acquiring never-before-remixed three-track tapes of 24 of The WHO's earliest recordings, which will allow the songs to be mixed to stereo for the first time ever.
A Deluxe Edition of the band's seminal 1965 album "The Who Sings My Generation" and other packages utilizing the new material are expected to be released beginning in spring 2002. Along with the classics "My Generation," "I Can't Explain" and "The Kids Are Alright," the three-track recordings include the never-before-in-stereo "Anyhow, Anyway, Anywhere," "Anytime You Want Me," "Bald Headed Woman," "Circles," "Daddy Rolling Stone," "Heat Wave," "I Don't Mind," "I'm A Man," "Instant Party Mixture," "It's Not True," "Leaving Here," "La-La-Lies," "Legal Matters," "Lubie," "Motor-vating," "Much Too Much," "Please Please Please," "Shout And Shimmy," "The Good's Gone," "The Ox" and "You're Going To Know Me."
The reels also contain previously unissued alternate takes.

Former Baywatch beauty Yasmine Bleeth pleaded guilty last Friday to possessing less than 25 grams of cocaine and to driving while impaired. As part of the plea deal, the actress would serve two years probation and undergo regular drug tests.
Another part of her sentence is that she now has to appear in the Baywatch reunion movie that she had said no to.
PS- While funny, that last part was made up.

Country princess LeAnn Rimes ended her yearlong legal battle with Curb Records and signed a new contract, the record company announced. Rimes initially sued claiming she didn't fully understand the contract, which she first signed when she was 12. A lawsuit against her father, and his countersuit against her, remain unresolved.

George Harrison secretly recorded a final album in the months before his death, London's Sunday Times reported. Harrison reportedly played some of the 25 unreleased tracks for family members at a Los Angeles hospital, and he gave it the humorous working title, Portrait of a Leg End. No word on if or when the album would be released.
