Lisa Marie Presley says her share of Elvis’ $100M fortune is gone

Lisa Marie Presley claims her former business manager squandered her entire share of late father Elvis‘ $100 million fortune.

In new court documents obtained by The Daily Mail, Presley, 50, alleges that Barry Siegel assured her that her finances were in “good shape” while he whittled her $100 million trust down to just $14,000 in poor investments, including a hefty investment in the “American Idol” holding company, which went bankrupt after the show’s initial run ended in April 2016.

In her filing, Presley alleges that Siegel and Provident Financial Management billed her $4.9 million to manage her $100 million trust, amounting to a salary of just over $700,000 per year for Siegel.

“Had Siegel disclosed the trust’s true financial condition to Presley and restricted spending to the trust’s ‘income’ rather than its principal assets, Presley would have lived comfortably on an annual budget of between $1.5 and $2 million per year, after taxes,” the documents claim. “On this budget, Siegel’s lucrative compensation package would have amounted to between 40 to 50 percent of Presley’s post-tax annual budget — an amount she undoubtedly would not have agreed to had she been aware of her true financial condition.”

She accuses Siegel of liquidating the trust’s assets after the “Idol” investment failed to generate income in order to accommodate her lifestyle, alleging that he recommended she spend twice her annual post-tax income. That spending reportedly includes a $9 million estate in England with a balloon payment of $6.5 million in 2015 that the trust didn’t cover. She also claims that mortgages on her Hidden Hills, Calif., and Hawaii homes were worth more than the properties themselves by 2010.

Siegel and Provident Financial Management scoffed at Presley’s allegations, claiming in a countersuit that her money problems are simply due to her own exorbitant spending. They’re seeking a cool $800,000 in damages and argued that because Presley is going through a difficult time with her divorce from fourth husband Michael Lockwood, she’s pinning her troubles on them.

Lockwood, 57, demanded $40,000 in spousal support from Presley, who claimed she was $16 million in debt, $10 million of which was back taxes alone. A judge ruled that while she doesn’t yet need to shell out monthly spousal support to the unemployed musician, she would have to pay $50,000 to his attorney for court fees.

Paul McCartney‘s new album is titled Egypt Station and will be issued in September.

His 17th studio solo long-player has been produced by Greg Kurstin (except for one Ryan Tedder track) and contains 14 songs, including the ‘double A-side single’ combo of I Don’t Know and Come on to Me. A physical release of this ‘single’ hasn’t been confirmed and isn’t looking particularly likely.

The album is supposed to have a ‘travelogue’ vibe and McCartney has said the following about the it: “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make.., Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”

New album announced • Few details • ‘Deluxe’ coloured vinyl is £50
Paul McCartney‘s new album is titled Egypt Station and will be issued in September.

A physical release of this ‘single’ hasn’t been confirmed and isn’t looking particularly likely.

The album is supposed to have a ‘travelogue’ vibe and McCartney has said the following about the it: “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make.., Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. Despite MPL announcing the album, there is no actual confirmation of formats (and nothing as straightforward as a track listing) but by looking at what’s listed right now in various places, we can deduce that there appears to be a standard vinyl, a standard CD, a deluxe vinyl edition (there is no info at all on what makes it ‘deluxe’) and a coloured vinyl versions of both vinyl options, which are exclusive to McCartney’s store. There is also an exclusive Target edition with two bonus tracks. Finally, a ‘mystery’ super deluxe edition box set is listed on the US site, but not the EU one. Not that there are ANY details, anyway and no ability to pre-order. The US site also only lists coloured vinyl for the non-deluxe version.

To summarise, this campaign has so far been a bit of a shambles. A week of tedious teases on social media, ended up with a ‘reveal’ of the album name on Monday. But rather than then doing the sensible thing and announcing the album, the very next day (yesterday) the focus was suddenly on a double A-side single, that was going to be ‘released’. Before we could say ‘is it going to be available physically?’ the news cycle has now moved on to the album. However, MPL appear to think every snippet of information should be treated like a precious commodity, and are withholding details to a ludicrous extent. So there is no track listing, no information about why a deluxe 2LP coloured vinyl is as expensive as it’s listed, and nothing about how anything is going to be presented. Not really good enough. If you’re not ready with the details, then WAIT before announcing!!

Egypt Station will be released on 7 September, although given that they clearly haven’t worked out the content for it yet, there’s a fair chance that the super deluxe edition won’t meet that release deadline.

Exclusive: Future ‘A Star Wars Story’ Spinoffs on Hold at Lucasfilm

It may be a while before we see any more movies like Solo: A Star Wars Story out of Lucasfilm. Sources with knowledge of the situation tell Collider that Lucasfilm has decided to put plans for more A Star Wars Story spinoff movies on hold, instead opting to focus their attention on Star Wars: Episode IX and what the next trilogy of Star Wars films will be after that film. Sources tell us that the previously rumored Obi-Wan movie was in active development, but those who were working on the film are no longer involved. It was recently reported that Logan filmmaker James Mangold was in early talks to write and direct the Boba Fett film, but that was before Solo’s release.

This news comes in the wake of the disappointing launch of Solo, which was only Lucasfilm’s second A Star Wars Story spinoff, but which received mixed-positive reviews and fell short of box office expectations. The film scored $84.4 million on opening weekend and has grossed $192.8 million domestically (and $339.5 million worldwide) in four weeks, which is nothing to scoff at but is far, far lower than the performance of other Star Wars movies at this benchmark. For comparison’s sake, Rogue One opened to $155 million and had grossed $424 million domestic by Week 4. To put it simply, while Solo did fine by blockbuster standards, it wasn’t the “event” that Lucasfilm expected out of a brand new Star Wars movie.

Of course the May release date could have had something to do with Solo’s disappointing performance. As opposed to Rogue One or the episodic films by J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson, Solo went head-to-head with a slew of summer blockbusters in May, opening mere weeks after box office juggernauts Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. One wonders how the film would have fared had Lucasfilm pushed Solo’s release to December instead.

Regardless, we’re hearing that plans to revisit this A Star Wars Story format have been put on hold for the moment. Initially announced as “anthology” movies, the spinoffs got off to a rocky start and haven’t exactly been smooth sailing. Josh Trank (Chronicle) was developing a Boba Fett movie around the same time Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) was prepping Rogue One, but Trank was subsequently removed from the project and Lucasfilm lost a film off its planned slate. Then story issues led to extensive reshoots on Rogue One that reworked the third act, with Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) overseeing the new scenes. And then of course Solo saw directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller fired during production, with Ron Howard coming in to replace them and reshoot a number of scenes.

In addition to Episode IX, Lucasfilm has officially announced development on a new Star Wars trilogy focused on new characters from The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, as well as a new series of films written by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. These projects continue to be in development and are not part of the paused spinoffs we’re hearing about. But Lucasfilm’s main focus at the moment is planning the next trilogy after the Abrams-directed Star Wars 9, which is expected to conclude the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) that began with The Force Awakens.

As with everything in Hollywood, it’s always possible that some filmmaker could come in and pitch an idea for a Star Wars Story spinoff that makes Lucasfilm rethink its approach, or opt to greenlight that idea as a one-off, but as of right now we’re hearing the studio’s focus has moved away from these spinoffs for the time-being and is squarely intent on getting Episode IX to the finish line and figuring out what the next trilogy of films will be.
