PBS to pay tribute to Robin Williams in special episode

PBS will pay tribute to Robin Williams next week with a special episode of its “Pioneers of Television” series — including an exclusive interview with Williams’ “Mork & Mindy” co-star, Pam Dawber.

The hour-long “Robin Williams Remembered — A Pioneers of Television Special,” airing Tuesday at 9 p.m., will feature Williams’ last full-length television interview, including never-before-seen footage of his comments about his life and his work.

Williams, who suffered from depression and battled alcoholism, committed suicide Aug. 11 at his home in Northern California. He was 63.

Dawber, who co-starred with Williams for over four years on “Mork & Mindy” (1978-82), gives her first interview since Williams’ death, reminiscing about working with him and what made him tick.

“Mork & Mindy,” a spinoff from “Happy Days,” aired on ABC and rocketed the manic, wildly funny Williams to stardom in television and in a long movie career that included an Oscar for “Good Will Hunting.”

The special also includes interviews with Henry Winkler, Penny Marshall, the late Jonathan Winters — Williams’ idol who co-starred on “Mork & Mindy” — Jerry Stiller and Whoopi Goldberg.
