‘Something’ Arcade Fire-Related Happening on September 9th

A radio DJ in Australia, Richard Kingsmill, tweeted that a new Arcade Fire single will be available on September 9th at 9 p.m. EST, while the band’s label, Merge Records, confirmed to Rolling Stone today that something Arcade Fire-related would be happening at that exact same date and time.

Bits and pieces of information about Arcade Fire’s imminent new LP — out October 29th and tentatively titled Reflektor — have come out over the past few weeks, while the band and collaborators were teasing the project over the summer.

At the beginning of August, a street art campaign connected to the album began, with graffiti images of the word “REFLEKTOR” spelled out in diamonds placed within a circle popping up in cities across the globe. A few weeks later the band owned up to design with a banner in New York City featuring the same design and the date, September 9.

Not much else is known about the LP other than the hints collaborator (and former LCD Soundsystem frontman) James Murphy has dropped over the summer, including the promise that the record is “really fucking epic.”
