I would argue that SEINFELD is Number One!!

Is ‘Sopranos’ the best-written TV show of all time?

Did The Sopranos have better scripts than Seinfeld?

According to the Writers Guild of America, yes. Last night the WGA released a list of the “101 Best Written TV Series” of all time, and today it’s sparking some discussion and disagreement.

The top 10:
1. The Sopranos
2. Seinfeld
3. The Twilight Zone
4. All in the Family
5. M*A*S*H
6. The Mary Tyler Moore Show
7. Mad Men
8. Cheers
9. The Wire
10. The West Wing

I thought I might see Twin Peaks on there, but it lands at No. 35. My So-Called Life is way down the list at No. 68, and Buffy comes in at No. 49. Lost is ranked at No. 27, between The X-Files and ER.

Though I loved The Sopranos, I’d stick Seinfeld in the top spot instead. And I also adore Mad Men, but it seems odd to rank it in the top 10 while the series is ongoing. (Game of Thrones, another ongoing show, is listed at No. 40. Homeland pops up ahead of Buffy at No. 48!)

Shows that barely made the list include FX’s Louie (No. 98), Family Ties (No. 95) and ’60s cult fave The Prisoner (No. 90).

The list was determined by online votes from members of the Writers Guild.
