‘Silver Linings Playbook’ wins Toronto’s People’s Choice
It’s a good day for Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
Their next film, Silver Linings Playbook, took the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival Sunday. The runner-up was Ben Affleck’s Argo.
The David O. Russell film is based on the novel by Matthew Quick and hits theaters Nov. 21.
Cooper stars as Pat, a former mental patient who moves in with his parents while trying to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more complicated when he meets Tiffany, played by Lawrence.
Winning the audience award at the fest is considered an early boost for awards season recognition. Recent Oscar best picture winners Slumdog Millionaire and The King’s Speech both won the Toronto audience award.
