Billy Crystal to write comedic memoir

NEW YORK – Billy Crystal will share his comedic views on life and aging in a new memoir to be published on his 65th birthday, Henry Holt and Co said on Thursday.

The actor and comedian will reflect on his life, career and aspects of aging including forgetfulness, insomnia, endless doctor’s appointments as well as humorous thoughts on looking at himself naked, the publisher said in a statement. It will be published in March 2013.

“While I still can remember my life, I thought I should get it down on paper,” the “When Harry Met Sally” star said in a statement. “Turning sixty-five is something to celebrate and have fun with but also to write about all the great and tough times that got me here.”

Crystal, who hosted the Oscars for the 9th time last February, published his first autobiography, “Absolutely Mahvelous,” in 1986 as well as several children’s books. His 2005 Tony-winning Broadway show, “700 Sundays,” which reflected upon memories of his father, was also translated into a book.

She is welcome back with open arms!!!

Heather Graham To Return In The Hangover Part III

Heather Graham, who played the stripper.hooker Jade in Todd Phillips’ The Hangover, will be coming back for the second sequel. While she received positive marks from critics and audiences for the part, she was replaced as Ed Helms’ love interest for The Hangover Part II by Jamie Chung. For the third film Phillips will be back as director, producer and co-writer, working on the script with Craig Mazin.

It was previously reported that for The Hangover Part III Phil, Alan, and Stu (Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Helms) will be starting in Los Angeles, traveling back to Las Vegas, and then going down to Tijuana, Mexico. The trip back to Vegas could explain how Jade will reconnect with the Wolf Pack.

It was recently announced that Mike Epps will return to the franchise as well, reprising his role as Black Doug, and Mike Tyson and Ken Jeong will play parts as well. Variety, which reported the Graham casting, says that the plan is to sprinkle the film with multiple celebrity cameos. Trying to get a cameo had mixed results when Phillips was making The Hangover Part II. While the movie was originally going to feature Mel Gibson, he was eventually let go from the project and replaced by Liam Neeson. When Neeson wasn’t available for reshoots he was eventually replaced with Nick Cassavetes.

The Hangover Part III will in theaters on May 24, 2013. Given the release date, the film will likely have to start production in the next couple months.

Woo hooo!!! Bring it on!!!

‘Doctor Who’: 50th anniversary movie will look back at the show’s creation

“Doctor Who” is getting an origin story — but not in the traditional superhero sense.

In honor of the show’s 50th anniversary next year, the BBC has commissioned a movie that will dramatize how “Doctor Who” came into being, BBC News reports. Mark Gatiss, who has written several episodes of the current series (and acted on the show as well, along with playing Mycroft Holmes on “Sherlock”), is writing the script.

The movie will detail the creation of the show, which was originally intended as an educational series aimed at children, and the hiring of William Hartnell, who had previously been known mostly for tough-guy roles, as the first Doctor.

“I’ve wanted to tell this story this for more years than I can remember,” Gatiss tells the BBC. “To make it happen for ‘Doctor Who’s’ 50th birthday is quite simply a dream come true.”

“Doctor Who” first aired on the BBC on Nov. 23, 1963. The 50th anniversary movie is set to premiere on BBC Two sometime in 2013.

Nicely done, MCA!! RIP!!

Adam Yauch’s Will: No Advertising for Beasties Songs

Don’t expect to hear MCA rapping in a commercial anytime soon.

The late Beastie Boys musician’s will prohibits the use of his music and “artistic property” in advertisements, according to Rolling Stone.

“Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, in no event may my image or name or any music or any artistic property created by me be used for advertising purposes,” the will reportedly reads.

The will, filled on Tuesday, leaves his $6.4 million estate to his wife, Dechen, and daughter, Tenzin Losel. His wife was named the executor of his estate, which places future decisions for his contributions to the Beastie Boys in her hands.

MCA, born Adam Yauch, died earlier this year after a battle with cancer. The rapper and activist was 47.

Here’s hoping that they can get a deal done!!!

Bettman sets Sept. 15 deadline for NHL lockout

Donald Fehr seemed unfazed when asked Thursday for his reaction to the NHL’s imposition of a Sept. 15 deadline to get a new collective bargaining agreement in place or face a lockout.

The head of the National Hockey League Players Association met with the press shortly after a 90 minute sitdown down between the sides, and refused to take the bait on that deadline.

“Under the law, if an agreement expires, that may give someone the legal ability to go on strike or impose a lockout,” said Fehr, a veteran campaigner in these types of negotiations from his years running the baseball players’ union.

“There is no requirement to do so, and if nobody does anything you continue to work under the old conditions until they do things. If there is a lockout, somebody has to choose to do that.”

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman delivered the deadline to the players during the Thursday session and then confirmed it to reporters afterwards.

“I re-confirmed something that the union has been told multiple times over the last nine to 12 months,” Bettman said. “Namely, that time is getting short and the owners are not prepared to operate under this collective bargaining agreement for another season, so we need to get to making a deal and doing it soon.

“And we believe there’s ample time for the parties to get together and make a deal and that’s what we’re going to be working towards.”

Deadlines can come and go, but as of now, that would leave 37 days of negotiation to avoid a work stoppage.

The players have suggested repeatedly that the sides could continue bargaining while proceeding under the old agreement, but the NHL would not likely go for that because it would take away a major bargaining chip for the league.

Fehr also confirmed the players would deliver a counter-proposal to the NHL when the sides meet in Toronto on Tuesday.

At the Thursday meeting, the players made a presentation to the owners that basically discredited the league’s proposed revenue sharing system because when combined with the current player compensation rules “it seems to us overall, and club by club, that all of the revenue sharing payments, both the new ones and existing ones, would paid for by player salary reductions.

“I don’t know if there would be revenue sharing after that, it remains to be seen.”

Asked how far apart the two sides are, Fehr said “there is a meaningful gulf there.”

Player representatives will now gather for a series of meetings in advance of the Tuesday sit-down with the owners.
