That would make for a heck of an Opening Ceremony!!!

Dave Gilmour denies Pink Floyd are reuniting for London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony

Pink Floyd’s Dave Gilmour has denied the band are reforming their classic line-up to play at this summer’s Olympic Games in London.

A report in the London Evening Standard earlier today (January 3) claimed that the band were set to reconvene for their first official performance since Live 8 in 2005. Paul McCartney was also said to be in line to appear at the opening ceremony spectacular.

However, a representative for Gilmour has contacted NME to deny the story, commenting: “David Gilmour can confirm that there is no truth in recent media speculation about Pink Floyd re-uniting to perform for the 2012 London Olympics.”

In May 2011 Roger Waters, Nick Mason and David Gilmour briefly reunited onstage during Waters’ ‘The Wall’ concert at The O2 Arena in London, though he later dismissed the incident as “a one-off”.

Waters was joined by Gilmour for Pink Floyd song ‘Comfortably Numb’ while Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, later joined the pair onstage for closing track ‘Outside The Wall’, with Gilmour playing mandolin and Mason on tambourine.
