Get ready to apply for bleacher seats at the Oscars
“Oscar Fans: Your Red Carpet Seats Await,” declares the news release issued by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday, which is inviting the public to vie for the 700 bleacher seats along the 500 feet of red carpet outside the Kodak Theatre on Feb. 27.
Fans may apply online from Sept. 13 to 19. A random drawing will decide who receives the seats, which will dispensed in pairs — to each winner plus guest.
“Following the red carpet arrivals, everyone seated in the bleachers will be invited to watch the Academy Awards telecast at a nearby location,” notes the news release.
