Sorry Robin, you can’t play with Batman!!

Williams wants crack at ‘Batman’
Robin Williams is urging movie bosses to cast him in the next Batman movie – because he has twice been turned down for parts in the superhero franchise.
Rumours over casting for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming third superhero film have been rife ever since The Dark Knight, starring Heath Ledger as The Joker, hit cinemas in 2008 – with fans speculating over which characters will be re-introduced.
Nolan is said to be considering bringing feline femme fatale Catwoman back for the new movie, along with The Riddler.
Williams is adamant he would make a good replacement for Jim Carrey, who played the fiendish puzzler in 1995’s Batman Forever, because the part was originally offered to him. The funnyman also reveals he was lined up to play The Joker in the original 1989 Batman movie before the role was later handed to Jack Nicholson – and the snubs have made him determined to secure a part in the next installment of the hit franchise.
He tells Empire magazine, “I would do Batman in a second. I’d play The Riddler in the next one, although it would be hard to top Heath Ledger as the villain and I’m a little hairy for tights.
“The Batman films have screwed me twice before: years ago they offered me The Joker and then gave it to Jack Nicholson, then they offered me The Riddler and gave it to Jim Carrey. I’d be like, ‘OK, is this a real offer? If it is, then the answer’s yes. Don’t pump me again motherf**kers’.”

She is still hott!!!

Wonder Woman gets a makeover
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Comic book superheroine Wonder Woman has traded in her spangled hot pants for urban leggings and upped her street smarts in a 21st century make-over for the 69 year-old character.
J.Michael Straczynski, the new writer for the DC Comics series, told the New York Times he wanted to “toughen her up and give her a modern sensibility” and change the outfit Wonder Woman has been wearing for almost seven decades.
The new costume features dark leggings, a studded denim jacket, spurs on her heeled boots and gloves in a new look designed by Korean-American artist Jim Lee of “X-Men” fame. Gone are the star-studded hip-huggers, undersized bustier and knee length, red go-go boots.
“She was stuck in 1941. And as female friends of mine kept asking, ‘how does she fight in that (bustier) thing without all her parts flying out? How does she carry her stuff?,” Straczynski told video game and entertainment website IGN.com in an interview.
“So my requests were pretty specific: toughen her look, make it more dynamic, more serious,” he added.
Wonder Woman, one of the few female superheroes in a world dominated by Batman and Superhero, has also seen her character given greater depth and more intellect as she debuts the new look in Issue 600, which hits comic book stands Wednesday.
“Growing up, I always felt that she was a better character than her books…the stories tended toward being a bit precious, and definitely edged into being more about getting her into provocative poses…than really getting into her character,” Straczynski said.
“We will be making her stronger, favoring her smarts and her resolve and her resourcefulness, and making the remains of the world she once knew special by incorporating them into a more vital, unpredictable world. We take her very seriously,’ he added.

Nope, no movies for me this weekend!! I will see them eventually, but right now I admit that I don’t care about either!!

New “Twilight” film eyes $150 million-plus opening
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) ñ Box office sales are about to skyrocket as two summer sizzlers launch midweek ahead of the Independence Day holiday weekend amid fervid enthusiasm from their respective fan bases.
Summit’s “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” bows at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday in more than 4,000 locations, with the vampire-romance threequel likely to sink its teeth into more than $150 million across the United States and Canada through Monday.
The first sequel, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” bowed with $142.8 million during its first three days last November en route to a domestic haul of $296.6 million. The original “Twilight” opened in November 2008 with $69.6 million and wrapped with $192.8 million.
“The advance ticket sales are as good as for ‘New Moon,’ and certainly the tracking data is,” Summit distribution president Richie Fay said. “But the real question is whether the moviegoers feel they need to catch the movie the first day or two or maybe think they can wait until the weekend. It’s really difficult to say how the grosses will come in.”
Additionally, Paramount on Thursday opens director M. Night Shyamalan’s 3D family adventure “The Last Airbender,” which should skew male as “Eclipse” preoccupies younger women. Based on the Nickelodeon animated kids series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” the live-action movie was produced in 2D and converted to 3D to exploit audience enthusiasm for the format.
It is forecast to fetch as much as $50 million through Monday. The estimated production costs totaled $150 million.
“Eclipse” — which totes a relatively modest $60 million budget — also opens in 41 international territories, including several larger markets such as Russia, Italy, Spain and Mexico. “Airbender” unspools in foreign markets during July and August.
Meanwhile, Disney/Pixar’s 3D threequel “Toy Story 3,” the box office champ for the last two weekends, is likely to grab the bronze medal with upward of $35 million.

I love and respect Larry, but he should have walked away a decade ago!!

CNN’s King says he’s ending show after 25 years
NEW YORK ñ Larry King, who interviewed statesmen and stars from a prime-time perch at CNN for 25 years but has faded in ratings and influence lately, said Tuesday that he will step down this fall from his nightly show.
“It’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders,” King said in a message sent to fans via Twitter.
King said he will do occasional specials for CNN. He marked his 25th anniversary on the air this month and takes pride in a Guinness Book of World Records citation for hosting the longest-running show on the same network in the same time slot.
The longtime radio host was a pioneer in cable television. From the first show where he interviewed then-New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, King’s desk was considered a valued spot for anyone interested in talking to the nation. King’s interview style was plain-spoken and critics would suggest occasionally ill-prepared, but he was good at making his guests feel comfortable.
“He lured so many people to this new frontier of cable back before anybody understood what it was all about,” said CNN U.S. President Jon Klein, who called King a “living, breathing Hall of Famer who is still doing the work.”
King said he felt no pressure from CNN to leave. He said he began thinking about stepping down as his 25th anniversary week ended earlier this month, on the airplane home after interviewing basketball star LeBron James. During that week, he also spoke to Bill Gates, President Barack Obama and Lady Gaga ó an apt example of the mix that he always sought on his show.
“I said, `I can’t top this,'” King said in an interview Tuesday.
“I’m tired of the nightly grind,” he said. “I do want to do other things but I want to stay at CNN in some way … There’s a case of great mixed emotions.”
King told his staff during a conference call Tuesday that he called “one of the saddest 10 minutes of my life.”
CNN is in the midst of remaking its prime-time lineup and last week announced that former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and conservative columnist Kathleen Parker would co-host an 8 p.m. EDT show on politics and current events.
The network will now begin concentrating on potential successors. Klein said he wanted to continue with provocative newsmaker interviews in the time slot.
“Nobody else does it,” he said. “It’s an important tool in the arsenal and we want to keep it going.”
CBS News anchor Katie Couric has long been considered a potential successor, given her interviewing skills. That talk has cooled lately with suggestions that Couric may be reluctant to take responsibility for another network with ratings troubles; Klein would not discuss specific candidates. Recent published reports have suggested that “America’s Got Talent” judge Piers Morgan could be a candidate. King said if it were up to him, Ryan Seacrest would be the best choice to fill his shoes.
As cable news audiences gravitated toward politically pointed shows and newsmakers found many more outlets for interviews in recent years, King slipped behind Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow in the ratings. During his interview with Lady Gaga, the 76-year-old broadcast veteran had people wondering if he was really connecting with a pop star a half century his junior.
King got some sympathy from comic Bill Maher, invited as a guest on “Larry King Live” on Tuesday specifically to be there on the night of the announcement.
“I heard people say Larry didn’t understand Lady Gaga,” Maher said. “Who understands Lady Gaga?”
King estimated he’s conducted some 50,000 interviews during a 53-year broadcasting career. He said he always tried to ask short questions and to never come in with an agenda. “I left my ego at the door,” he said.
“I never learned a thing while I was talking,” he said. “That would be my motto.”
He dismissed a series of stories this spring questioning his future and speculating about possible successors.
“You can’t worry about things you can’t control,” he said. “I can’t control if a newspaper is going to speculate about something or if a blog is going to speculate … If I let it get me, I’ll go nuts. So what I try to do, and I’m not being morbid, I just try to do the best show I can. If it works, it works.”
King said he was able to see the baseball all-star games of his sons this weekend. If it was during the week, he’d miss them.
“I’m never going to see these again,” he said. “They’re not going to repeat themselves. They’re 11 and 10. They’re not going to be 11 and 10 again.”
Besides work with CNN, King said he’d also be interested in working in comedy.
“I think I speak for a lot of people in America that I will miss you terribly at this hour,” Maher said on the show.

Funny, is funny!!

‘Airplane!’ keeps the funny after 30 years
If it werenít for the talented trio Jerry Zucker, David Zucker and Jim Abrahams, we may never have gotten a number of post-ìAirplane!î comedies, such as the Farrelly brothers’ ìThereís Something About Mary.î
And if it werenít for the Z.A.Z. team we also wouldnít have heard some of the funniest movie lines a person can commit to memory.
If you can read the ìAirplane!î quotes below and not hear Peter Gravesí hilarious deadpan delivery in your head, then clearly you need to make it a blockbuster night.
Roger Murdock: “We’ve got Clearance, Clarence.”
Captain Oveur: “Rodger, Roger. What’s our vector Victor?”
Captain Oveur: “Alright, give me a Hamm on five, hold the Mayo.”
Captain Oveur: “…And stop calling me surely.”
Randy: “There’s been a little problem in the cockpit.”
Ted: “The cockpit? What is it?”
Randy: “It’s a little room in the front of the plane, where the pilots sit, but that’s not important right now.”
Captain Oveur: “Ever been in a cockpit?”
Joey: “No, sir, I’ve never been up in a plane before.”
Captain Oveur: “Ever see a grown man naked?”
Captain Oveur: “Joey, have you ever been in a…in a Turkish prison?”
Roger Murdock: “But just remember, my name is Roger Murdock. I’m an airplane pilot.”
Elaine: “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your stewardess speaking. We regret any inconvenience the sudden cabin movement might have caused. This is due to periodic air pockets we encounter. There is no reason to become alarmed and we hope you enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?”

It is probably the right time…good luck Steve!!

Say Goodbye To Michael Scott!!
It looks like Dunder Mifflin will indeed be Scott-free this time next year.
Steve Carell is reaffirming his desire to leave The Office and his role as Michael Scott at the end of the hitcomís upcoming seventh season. ìI think [season] 7 will be my last year,î he told us over the weekend at the premiere of his new animated flick, Despicable Me. ìI want to fulfill my contract. Here’s hoping 3 – when they make it – is better than 2!!

‘Iron Man 2’ leaves box office top 10 below original domestically, higher overseas
ìIron Man 2î is wrapping up its box office run in a surprising spot: behind the original ìIron Man.î
Marvel Entertainmentís superhero sequel dropped out of the box office top 10 this weekend, its eighth in theaters, and has grossed a total of $307 million in the U.S. and Canada.
The first ìIron Manî left the box office top 10 on its ninth weekend with a total of $309 million. Although the difference is tiny, itís a remarkable swing given that “Iron Man 2” opened to $128.1 million in early May, and its predecessor opened to $98.6 million at the same time of year in 2008. Both were distributed by Paramount Pictures for Marvel, which was acquired by the Walt Disney Co. at the end of 2009.
ìIron Man 2î is now almost certain to end up with a final domestic gross lower than the original ìIron Manísî $318.4 million, despite an 11% rise in average ticket prices over the last two years.
The reason: Although more people came to see ìIron Man 2î opening weekend, audiences apparently didnít like the sequel as much as the original and weaker word-of-mouth caused its tickets sales to drop faster.
Foreign moviegoers seem to have a different view, however. The sequel’s international tally is $303 million, higher than the original ìIron Man’sî $267 million.

I am really looking forward to seeing what he does with this new show!!

Craig Kilborn breaks his silence
F. Scott Fitzgerald, who once said, “There are no second acts in American lives,” probably wouldn’t know what to make of Craig Kilborn.
After all, the 47-year-old Minnesota native is about to start his fourth act. The lanky ex-host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” and CBS’ “The Late Late Show” returns to television with “The Kilborn File,” a topical half-hour talk and comedy show that debuts Monday on Fox.
The 6-foot-5 former college basketball player, who originally rose to national prominence at ESPN alongside Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann, is something of an enigma. As Conan O’Brien can attest, few voluntarily quit a late-night talk show. But that’s exactly what Kilborn did when he left “The Late Late Show” in 2004.

Since then, Kilborn has pretty much been on extended vacation, and it showed when he looked a little puffy in a recent A&E documentary on the history of late-night television.
“I enjoyed retirement the right way ó linguine con vongole, red wine and plenty of truffle cheese. It was my Orson Welles stage,” Kilborn cracked. He’s since lost 15 pounds and looks like his old self. “I feel like a French woman,” he said.
Not one for reflection, Kilborn claims he has never questioned his decision and is tired of people looking for some secret reason behind his departure. “I didn’t leave to do anything else, I left to leave,” he said, acknowledging that he actually knew early into his stint that this wasn’t the job for him.
“I thought late-night was crowded Ö the formats repetitive,” Kilborn said at Chateau Marmont, just a hop and skip away from his Hollywood Hills home. “I achieved my goals, and it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.” On his last show he said, “My job is done here,” and in his typically self-absorbed style quipped, “I’m going to miss my best friends ó my cameras.”
“He was totally bored,” concurred Mike Gibbons, a former head writer and producer on Kilborn’s CBS’ show. “He’d much rather do his comedy and not deal with three guests a night promoting their wares.”
Getting antsy is a Kilborn tendency. “He worked real hard, especially in the beginning,” recalled ESPN Executive Editor John Walsh. But about halfway through his time at ESPN, Kilborn came to Walsh with a script for a sitcom he wanted to pursue. “He liked sports, but at a certain point and time he was going to move on. Ö He wanted a career that didn’t necessarily match up with ESPN and ‘Sports Center.'”
It was a similar story at “The Daily Show.” Kilborn was a hit right out of the box and put the network on the map in late night, but behind the scenes he wanted more say in the production. While Jon Stewart has since taken “The Daily Show” into another stratosphere with his biting political commentary, Kilborn’s old executive producer feels the original host was often underappreciated.
“I’ve always thought Craig was much sharper than he was given credit for,” said Madeline Smithberg, who worked with Kilborn on “The Daily Show.” It’s a sentiment echoed by those who worked with him on “The Late Late Show.”
Sometimes knocked by critics for being a lightweight, supporters like Smithberg counter instead he’s a television savant who is able to make it all look easy. And unlike many other television personalities, Kilborn’s shtick is that of a self-obsessed frat boy, not a tortured soul ó either on or off camera.
“I don’t do well around the angry, bitter and emotionally fragile among us, which may eliminate 70% of the population,” he said. “They say comedy comes from a dark place. Maybe 95% of the time it does, but it doesn’t for me.”
“He’s not an idiot who is self-absorbed,” said Smithberg. “He’s a smart person who is self-absorbed and uses it as a comedic device quite successfully.” Kilborn says it’s all an act. “I’m a down-to-earth guy.”
To the Kilborn faithful, his latest effort will probably seem more like his version of “The Daily Show” with a bit of “Politically Incorrect” thrown in than “The Late Late Show.” “The Kilborn File” will have a limited summer run on several big city Fox stations and, if it performs, would be rolled out across the country as early as next year.
On the new show, Kilborn will have a partner ó actress Christine Lakin ó probably best known for her seven-year stint as the tomboy on the ABC sitcom “Step by Step.” The show will open with Kilborn and Lakin honing their comic chops on the day’s headlines. Later, a roundtable discussion will ensue with a potpourri of comics, athletes and academics. There will also be the obligatory big-name guest and the Kilborn staple of “Five Questions.”
If the show doesn’t work, Kilborn says he won’t lose sleep over it. He has sitcom ideas and fantasies of returning to Northern California and becoming a disc jockey. Although he has a nice house in the hills, the Hollywood scene holds little appeal.
“I lived in a studio apartment until my mid-30s, I don’t have an extravagant lifestyle,” he said. “All I ever wanted to be was an old man with a dog.”

Nope, I Don’t Have it!!

Top secret Dr. Who script missing
Filming for the Doctor Who Christmas special has been thrown into jeopardy after the top-secret script reportedly went missing.
Executive producer and lead writer Steven Moffat is facing a race against time to create a new draft before filming commences next month, according to Britain’s Daily Star Sunday.
The writer reveals, “It’s a flashback Christmas special.”
Matt Smith currently stars at the Time Lord in the popular British sci-fi show.
